Rantings, Aroma Yoga and True Colour Bar (again)

Things I miss a whole lot more than I think I will:

1) My grandma’s home cooked meals
2) Her broiled for 8 hours soups (especially lotus soup with peanuts)
3) Wearing tube tops, spags, nice dresses and short skirts
4) Singapore style shopping (without the haggling over prices)
5) Hanging out my girls back home
6) Gelato
7) Boyfriend
8) Supper
9) Roti prata, hokkien mee, bbq stingray

I miss my lovely family! I’m counting down to Friday when I’ll see them for the first time in 2 months.

Okay, list of less than ten items, so it’s alright, I don’t really miss a great deal. In fact, I like to experience life overseas. It’s different. I wake up to experience new adventures everyday, big or small. I cannot be confined to living the same kind of life day in, day out. The world’s too big to stay at a constant spot forever even though it’s my safe and comfort zone.

I guess living on your own gives you the freedom to act upon your actions and face the consequences. You make a mess out of something, you clear it up yourself. Gives me the space I want; space from my family, my friends and my boyfriend. Do not get me wrong here, I love all of them. But I feel its good to get away from people you are used to, people you are dear to and get to experience what it is actually like to be away from them for awhile. It’s an entirely different perspective. The outcome; you cherish them a whole lot more. And, you get to meet new people, new friendships and new experiences. It broadens your overall perspectives on life. Seriously.

Anyway, enough of all that ‘feel good’ talk. Haha.

I went for my first Aroma yoga class at Professional Yoga Centre which my colleague, Karen introduced me to. After work last Friday, Alaska, Karen and I headed down to the yoga centre. The centre is amazing! As is with the name, everything is so professionalized. Way better than Amore Fitness. The swimming pool is huge and they PH-test it everyday. Towels, water and mats are provided during classes and they have a wide range of activities to choose from. I want to do Hot yoga next. According to Karen, the room temperature can go as high as 40 deg. So can you imagine, you will sweat like nobody’s business. Interesting.

After close to 4 years’ hiatus of not going for yoga classes, I find the yoga class a little too hard core for me. But it felt good to stretch my body the first time in a long time. The instructor is an Indian and he can speak Chinese. Haha, but its very hard to understand his Chinese, I would prefer him speaking in English though. I like the fact that he bothers to come around to check on our stretching to make sure we did them the right way. After all the forward and backward bends, legs over head bends and breathing techniques, I felt my body was rejuvenated enough to last me for another 2 more weeks without exercise

Saturday was spent at True Colour Bar again; this time round, with our colleagues and my manager, Meggie. There were 17 of us and we were a noisy bunch. It felt weird and strange to be playing finger games like 5/10 with my manager! She’s the same person who will be reviewing my work, guiding me and sitting in during my presentation. Oh we played this interesting and new dice game which kinda resembles bluff. My colleagues say it’s mostly calculation tactic, but I think its mostly luck and guessing.

We got bored with listening to the bands singing the same songs again so we made our way to a club. Yes, a club. And it was to me, a very bad idea cause the club called, Chicago Club (whoever names a club by that name), is by far, the sleaziest club I’ve ever been to. Oh my goodness, the first tell-tale sign was when we were at the entrance waiting to go in, we saw women wearing HOTPANTS with old uncles wearing slipper and slacks. FAINTS. Not kidding. Eye brow raising situation.

Worse still, we found out the club plays heavy techno! It felt as if I stepped into my idea of a nightmare club. They have the full works of it. – lousy music, strange people, sleazy girls trying to get the attention of men (all middle aged) and bad sound system. Well, the company was great. See, I always believe in the fact that you can be in the lousiest and shittiest place ever but when you have good company, it doesn’t matter really. You can still have fun. We played more games and I didn’t get too woozy=) surprisingly. I could think very clearly and logically. I wouldn’t want to appear too gibberish in front of my manager. No, that would be very bad image management. Haha.

It was overall a great night, made a couple of new friends from Qiu Xin and Alaska’s department.

Pictures of the night.

Just outside the live band bar. Looks really sleazy, but its not. With Qiu xin and Li Qin who is interning in Guangzhou. She's damn nice and helpful!
The lady in blue is my manager, Meggie. She looks very approachable right? Oh my goodness, till this day, I still cannot believe my manager is so young at heart. Clubbed with us too!.

The 3 mums with their 'son'. I'm the Er Ma. We always bully him, ask him to help us carry our shopping bags.

With our chinese colleagues.
